Sample Film Budget Breakdown

Tell me about it! For my film, I'm using Red One which is HD so there's no film processing in my budget.

I've been searching, for days, and I've come across some decent budgets. The problem is all of them assume everyone who makes a movie uses film stock (as oppose to us in the digital Red One age) and not tailored in the $200,000 - $500,000 range. Such a shame.

For tapeless, you need to budget for extra hard drives for on set offloading and mid-term storage and some sort of long-term archiving solution. An LTO-5 drive and LTO-5 tapes, for example. Still cheaper than film & processing.

Does your editor have access to HDcam or D5... these are the masters I'm speaking of... unless you expect if someone picks you up for sales they'll cover that and they'll charge you an arm and a leg...

and what arniepix said above... that is some of the more...

Yes we have access.

But you said this was "much" more. I outline the entire number of cast and crew, exactly who all are apart, the number of extras, the equipment, the days the location number the script length, the camera type, the meals, the hotel, the post-specs and yet you still say there is "much" more? (FYI - yes the $250,000 includes contingency and marketing)

Tell me about this "much" - is the crew insufficient, the cast - in all I have said up to this post, what have I left out that's unaccounted for?

To be honest I wouldn't post a budget of a real film that I've done... never want the buyer to know what I have in it.. they don't need to know about working with an actor that you've worked with before who'll give you a break on their pay (much more than SAG scale but lower than their normal going rate)...

Okay what I guess I mean by more is this...

Is the hotel footing the bill for the rooms is the hotel taking care of catering...
Okay the Red's are rented... in the US or Barbados... shipping costs...
I don't know the going rate for actors in Barbados... or Jamaica... but you have to add in airfare... lodging... per diem (again if the hotel is throwing in the catering you might get away with only
paying them on their day off or since its a non SAG shoot just have the actors show up for their meals on set)...
Your friend is letting you use his plane...

I guess the more in those answered ?'s that I don't know about...
