Same room, night and morning

Hello,
I am shooting a scene this weekend that is supposed to be a couple talking in bed. We start at night -- the couple is having their last conversation before sleep. Then fade out, fade in, and it's morning and they wake up and continue talking.

I understand that I can use a blue gel for the night scene, and a yellow/orange for the morning. I'm afraid of overdoing it though.

Here are my specific questions.

1) I assume I would just gel the key light coming from the window, but not the fill light and any background lights. Is this the correct approach?

2) Are there any other ways to differentiate the light for these two times? I'm assuming both window lights would be fairly low (moon, rising sun). Would one light be harder than the other, e.g., moonlight hard and bluish, dawn yellow and diffuse?

If it makes any difference, the lights I have to work with are 3x JTL Everlight 500w softboxes, 1x 420w pepper, and 1x 600w Britek.

Thanks, I'm still something of a beginner, but I'm having fun.

I would have more shadows (less fill) for the night stuff, and more fill for the day stuff.

The morning light will probably be harder and more direct while the nighttime light will be softer and less direct but rather more of a glow on the walls.
