Sahara

Skywalker
Just got back from watching it...

Me likes :cheesy: I might be biased towards Action/Adventure movies about treasure seekers  but it was pretty good. Yes it is trying to be Indy very hard and LOTS of elements were homage to Spielberg/Lucas baby, but it didn't bother me.

Although I'm not a fan of McConaughey, he was good; Steve Zahn was... well, Steve Zahn :) Didn't care for Penelope Cruz, but overall the cast was great. What else... story? It didn't deliver anything new (and had it's dull moments), but it provided amazing scenery (god bless Lean for opening our eyes on desert beauty, can never get enough of it), tons of good action, many jokes and, most importantly, the feel of adventure.

Well, I don't know... if I think something else up, I'll write more. Like I said, I liked it, it was exactly what I wanted to see going to the theatre. I'm afraid it's gonna bomb tho, because the movie doesn't seem to be getting any marketting it deserves.

EDIT: ahh yes, closer to the end I felt like they were trying to put just way too much of everything in it and the action seemed non-stop, but top-notch nonetheless.

Why does MM look orange in the commercials?
I noticed that too! Color Correction gone awry?

I think this thing looks like crap. But hey, you can always learn something. Even if it's a bad movie and you learn something NOT to do. If it's free, I will watch.

It wasn't that bad, the writing was the worst part, but it did have that Indiana jones/ bond type feel, but I thought it was a movie on it's own.... I' really don't like listening to Cruz speaking, but that's my personal opinion... and although it was weak; I found it enjoyable, you should have heard the guy 8 row's back claping his hands anytime something funny or explosive happened....

I thought it was fun - a taste of old-fashioned, Allan Quartermaine type action movies.

Thought the music was terrible. The whole movie was "scored" in "'ole time rockin' roll". Pretty generic.

I had fun watching it though. I am a big sucker for action-adventure flicks, but I definitely had my qualms about it.

I thought it was a lot of fun, and being older than the rest of you put together (hey, putting together a resume' that includes being a professional trombonist, an Algebra professor, and running my own crane rental service takes time), I loved the soundtrack.

However, let me say this: for those of you who still can't see film strobing, and think the DVX strobes more than film, watch the first couple of minutes of Sahara! The opening shot is a two- or three-minute crane sequence, panning around a room, strobing madly the whole time. To this day I still hear people saying that film doesn't strobe like the DVX does, no matter how many times and how many ways we prove that they strobe exactly the same... maybe after watching the opening to Sahara, and watching it strobe, they'll finally believe...

This could illustrate strobing in film from quick pans -- the only problem is that people would have to see Sahara.
