Have to say I’m not very familiar with the new contract. I’m sag eligible so no dog in this fight ( lots of friends in union) but always curious with what’s going on. Glanced at an article, lots of opposition in la. Is it mostly about major changes to residuals?

Variety reported "SAG-AFTRA said the total package contained increases worth $318 million to members over the three years, including gains in residuals paid for high-budget subscription streaming; increases to the contribution rate to the pension, health and retirement funds (up to 2%, including optional wage diversions); and “groundbreaking” improvements to provisions governing nudity, simulated sex and sexual harassment for all performers."

With 168,000 members, that $328 M is an average of less than $700/member/year.

Part of the problem seems to be a large cut of up to 90 percent on some residuals. I’d be ticked off to if that is the case and I was earning from those shows. Those numbers could be worst case to drive a no vote. Might be more folks get a taste but less get a meal argument. I’m sure better analysis will start showing up Soon and I’ll see where I’m off.
