Sadly it is time to move on

After 5 years of having my website on iMac (film clips and photos) I find myself having to search for a new website host. Mac has changed their layout to a new system that they call: mobile me - which now I can’t get into my website to add updates as of July 7th. I do not like their new setup and feel that what they have to offer is no longer professional for independent filmmakers.

I won’t go into what my real thoughts are for the new Mac Mobile Me system, I don’t want to offend anyone on this dvxuser group that likes their new system.

Anyway I would like to see what others like using for their website host so I can start building a new one. Also how difficult is it to transfer my domain name to a new website?

I want to be able to upload film clips, photos, up coming projects and bio. I used homestead at one time but at that time they weren’t up to speed.

Thanks for any feedbacks.

I've used godaddy for years. No problems with downtime and good customer service when I have needed it.

I use and highly recommend hostgator. I have not only a local film forum running on it, but multiple domains with pretty much unlimited bandwidth for around $10 a month. No complaints on the forum in regards to speed. Also as a filmmaker you will find yourself adding lots of domains over the years because of films with their own website for marketing. So it's good to have the unlimited domain addon option. They also do automatic backups every Sunday. So if you are ever taken down by something...you can get back up via the last backup. You can also download backups from your Cpanel online at anytime and you get free 24 hour support.
