So I want to upgrade my DVX100B setup to an HMC150. I mean, who wouldn't right? Anyway, I have a maxed out Apple G5 Quad so I figure I have plenty of power to spare to handle HD. The problem is I'm running FCP5 and it looks like I need 6.6 or better for today's HD cams and the avccam system. I am shocked at the lack of backwards compatibility in both apple and adobe products as EVERYTHING requires an intel mac. I bought my machine right as the intels were coming out and being the mac guy I am I said hell no to intel! Power PC all the way! What an idiot... Am I out of luck here? Should I try and get an HVX instead? I there a way?

Thanks

You could use a program like Toast or Cineform or something to convert the files, making them compatible to your version of FCP (presuming that those programs will run on a G5).

you could use those programs, but editing raw, without conversion, is going to save you a lot of time. now that the new FCP wont run on anything but intel (along with most apple software that's out, and is going to come out) it almost makes no sense not to upgrade.
