Sachtler 0370 Tripod

Hey guys,

I'm in the market for a tripod for when i purchase my Ex1... i came across these Sachtler's and i have always heard good things about the brand and for that price, they seem perfect for me.
I just wanted to know if anybody has any opinions or experiences with this tripod set up... obviously i'm not expecting the quality of the £6k set ups but id assume they would be a higher standard than that of the Manfrottos and Vintens in that price range....?

Any input would be great!

Thanks

Tom

That's a fine tripod head, but the leg isn't great. Despite having the Sachtler brand on it the DA-75L is pretty cheaply build and doesn't go all that low. You'll probably want to just get the head separately and get a better set of sticks.

Thanks for that man!

Any recommendations on legs? Im hoping to not spend much more than £6-700 as this will be my day to day tripod and i will probably rent a set of big sachtlers for paid jobs...

Many thanks!

Tom

Would the Manfrotto MN-503HDV525 (MN-503, 503HDV) video tripod kit be preferable? I have used this quite a bit when i rent an EX3 and it seems fine... although it was in 'rental condition' so it probably wasn't in its best shape to make a judgement....

Would i be best saving a bit of cash and just getting the manfrotto over the sachtlers?

Cheers

Tom

I use the 503 and like it quite a bit. It's a great head, and the legs are all right. For the price though you can't complain. I'm upgrading as we speak. Vinten Vision 5as! Good luck with your choice.

Hi, I too have been on the Creative Video site looking for 'pods, and coming round and round to the Sachtler FSB 4 systems.
The other 'pod I looked at was the Vinten 3AS but that's a bit priceyer.
I did look at getting separate head and legs, even up to a FSB 6 head and 3rd party legs.
I'm looking for legs with a mid-level spreader so I can use it on very uneven ground.

I think i might go for the 503's as i know them and they seem okay... also a bit cheaper too.

Cheers guys

Tom

last year I was in the market for a tripod and as you guys I kept seeing that fsb4 in CVP, and well, I hit the buy button.

The head is nice, with drag option (5 levels) and 3 levels of adjustement for pan and tilt. At least this is enough for my hmc150. In the end you are getting a satchler quality tripod!
The sticks on the other side don't go low , so when I finish some projects I may be looking for a new one.
