Sacha Baron Cohen, the British comedian who brought us Borat and Bruno, is to play Freddie Mercury in a film about the rock group Queen.
Queen guitarist Brian May confirmed the news in a BBC interview on Friday.
"We have Sacha Baron Cohen, which will probably be a shock to a lot of people, but he's been talking with us for a long time," May said.
May and drummer Roger Taylor are overseeing music in the film, to be written by Peter Morgan, the screenwriter for Frost/Nixon.

You mean he?

Even if he can, he can't do it like Freddie.

I still remember the day Freddie Mercury died, everyone walked around a bit stunned.
I mean everyone!

His music transcended so many boundaries and I cannot think of a better person
than Cohen to play him in a serious film. High hopes for this one.

And so the BS continues even after Freddies Death.

I think some footage of Freddie singing will be in the movie. Just a guess.

I don't think the point of the movie will be focused on Sacha Cohen's singing ability more than his portrayal of Freddie's history.

I think expecting Sacha to fill Freddie's shoes while making the movie is a gross over exaggeration and don't expect that to happen.

The movie will be fine. If your not interested in it, don't watch it.
It'll be fine. Don't worry about it.

joking aside, i'm really looking forward to this. queen is one of my favorite bands ever and it will be interesting to see how sacha baron cohen does in a serious role.
