S-video and Firewire

Anyone have any thoughts on realistic quality differences between S-video and a straight DV (firewire) connection?

I ask because I have to put some DVX 24pN video into an old editing suite that is set up for Beta SP stuff. The only way to import it is with S-video!
 
Can't the editing suite accept Firewire? Most editing suites now have firewire somewhere. IF that is not the case then try capturing on another system to a separate drive, take this drive and put it in the editing suite you will use for editing. This will insure the highest quality, digital as oppose the analog signal of the s-video. If that is too much of a pain, capture via S-Video - the signal will be fine but NOT the highest quality allowable. Depends what your client is wanting to see, how much color correction you will make, and what the end delivery method will be (ie. Web, DVD, TV, Film)
