Any of you guys using the
Rycote S-Series 450 Windshield Kit

Thinking of buying it but would like to get feedback as to how it performed out in the field on windy situations.

On a really windy day I'll add the normal foam windscreen on the mic 30mph+
Below that, kick in the cut filter and you are good to go..
 
The S-series will work fine - not quite as good as a full Rycote basket windshield with windjammer, but better than anything else.

BUT - ignore the advice about using a foam windshield as well - this is WRONG.

Using a foam windshield on a mic. inside a basket windshield makes the wind protection WORSE as it reduces the air volume that is providing the wind protection.
 
I have the S-Series, and while it might not be as good as the "full-coat" version, I've never had any problems with it.
In some ways it's better than the old style, as it has more room inside.
A real plus is it's virtually indestructible, and I have used it to knock off small dead tree branches that were in the way of boom. The older one the basket would always break or get cracked.
Light weight.
Dead quiet with the Invision shockmounts.

Might not work as well in the rain, but I haven't used it yet in the rain so I don't know.
If the hair gets wet, you can't just replace it with a dry backup.
