Just about half way done with "Rebel Without a Crew". Forget film school, read that book! Highly recommended. Oh, wait let me get back to reading the book! :)

Heh heh heh... Yup, it's a great motivation. I pick it up again and again to help when motivation is down.

Funny thing is, I am *IN* film school, and we got that book as assigned reading....it's a good book, but didn't sway my choice to obtain a BFA in Digital Media Production.

A good read, but very misleading on the backend costs associated with his breakthrough film. I like the spirit of the book though. Do it.

I'm choked.

Went to Amazon to order. It said "go to Amazon Canada for faster service". Cool. Ordered it from Amazon Canada and find out my order is coming from the UK - 8 weeks!

Not impressed!!! - Will not shop there again....

I email both Amazon and the co. in the UK last night... NO REPLY.

Whatever - I put off getting it for 9 years... What's two more months I guess. :undecided

Amazon might have been confused with rock / hardplace as you shipping address.
They just assumed it might be in Canada...

I had the chance to buy one about six months ago for $60 and a one month wait. I should've bought it anyway and then I could've passed it to the next DVXuser.

I just checked on Amazon and it says "Rebel Without a Crew" ships in 24 hours. Is it different shipping to Canada than here in the States?

While I do agree that it is a highly motivating book, as someone mentioned, it is also completely ego driven and very misleading about cost. The truth isn't how some kid became a Hollywood player with $8,000 on his first film. There is a lot more to the story. Here is one of several articles (courtesty of Sonnyboo.com) concerning the truth of Robert Rodriguez and his whole Rebel without a Crew.

That being said, it is a great book that is highly motivating, but it is also misleading to people who pick it up and have no previous film experience.
