Hey everybody, I just wanted to let everyone know that I am off from EVS for 2 weeks shooting a movie. Since we are shooting 16 hrs/day, I will also be posting here infrequently until it's over. When it's done, I will post pics of the whole thing and tell everybody all about. Just wanted to apologize ahead for not getting back to everybody, and not being on the forum for a while. My manager Todd has all the info about HVX's, so that when they come in, he will call people down the line and tell them their camera is here. :)
 
You deserve a vacation Rush... Errrr, well... Maybe it's a vacation for you! :) I hope it's enjoyable.

Btw, my DVX came in today. I wasn't home but will pick it up after work. I can't wait. Thanks for all your help man!

Thanks guys! Yeah this shoot is a long time coming. I will be on sporadically. I appreciate all your encouragement. :)

Wow just finished 7th day of production, stuff looks incredible. Pretty pictures from that camera! I love the grain consistency, helps the cutting go smoother. It actually cuts like film, rather than jarringly-clean video. I have never had so many options for creative field work. :love4:

Today, I asked our own Evinsky to do an undercrank with 360degree shutter, and we were able to do fast motion with blur IN THE FIELD! How crazy is that without a Varicam or Arriflex SR? No post necessary, shot one at 1/24, one at 1/12, done. Showed it to the actors, and it boosted their confidence tenfold, to see their performance right there, in the can. :)
 
That's dedication and one of the best illustrations of independent filmmaking right there in my opinion: taking your two-week vacation off from the regular job to do what? Making a film!

Have fun and enjoy yourself, Rush! Hope the shoot and everything else goes well. Late this year I'd like to take a "vacation" too. :grin:
 
Thanks pdx, and yes things are going great. And thanks Oz. And this is unpaid leave. I met with some resistance when asking for 2 weeks of paid vacation to make a movie, so to put everyone's mind at ease, I decided on unpaid leave. It feels even better this way, truly independent :)
