Rush Fees

Never charged rush fees before. I've always chalked it up to if I can get it done with my current workload I'll do it and be service oriented. If I can't meet a deadline I won't take the project. People can of course take advantage but I haven't really found this to be the case. This is all fine and dandy when I'm the only editor but if I'm paying someone to edit this I would feel bad to expect them to be "service oriented" towards my clients to the same degree I am. Now I'm considering rush fees and wondering how others approach it? I'm thinking that if I do it, I would essentially allow 4 hours for every 1 hour of editing so a 40 hour project would take 4 weeks to do. If the client needs it sooner then I would charge them a fee depending on how much sooner they need it. It would look something like this:

Billable Eiditng hours - 40 hour
Billable amount - $50/hr x 40 = $2,000
Turnaround Time - 40x4 = 160 business hours
Rush needed - 120 business hours turnaround

160/120 = 1.33333
1.3333 x $2,000 = $2660
$2660 - $2,000 = $660
$660/2 = $330
Rush Fee = $330

This means that something that needed to get done in half the amount of time I would normally allot woudld havea rush fee of 50% added. If it needed to get done in 1/4 of the time is would double the editing rate. Is this reasonable in your opinion?
