Caught this great music doc yesterday.

Highly recommended if you were ever a fan of the band or ever wondered why anyone would be. :) Surely only fans (and their wives/girlfriends under duress) would go to this movie, but I still think it says something that there was applause at the end. It was really well done, and really makes you love these guys - and their mothers.

They obviously had full access with the band completely part of the film project, but I was still surprised with some things like archival footage they got in the film. I mean, actual film of Alex (guitarist) telling his parents he's dropping out of high school?

Also lots of great interviews, from Gene Simmons to Jack Black. I think the filmmakers did a great job getting so much into two hours.

Can't wait till it comes around here!

Edit... just found it, one showing this Thursday... I'm there!

Ha... but that thread never mentions the name of the film or any details about it, it's just a bunch of fanboys talking about loving the band. :)

I searched for "Lighted Stage" and got no results so thought I had an original thought here. Guess not!

FanMen. Thank you very much.

Fanboys/fanmen, same difference. The point is, there were no fangirls or fanwomen. :)

Although, I should brag that I went with TWO women to the film. Not bad, if I do say so myself. I couldn't get one girl interested in the band when I was playing their songs in a high school cover band in the late 80s!

The closest theatre to me that's showing this is in Austin.

I love these guys, but it looks like I'm waiting for the DVD.

Just got back. One of the best rock docs I've ever seen.

This film makes me proud to be a Rush fan! I think the film makers really gave Rush the respect they deserve. Bravo.

With the Geddy & Alex interviews, it reminded me of Spinal Tap, but WTF....what's it supposed to sound like, I guess? Great thoughts & comments from other musicians & producers. I'm not a Billy Corgan fan, but he was well spoken on the subject of Rush.

I particularly liked:

-the vintage concert footage.
-The story of how Neil joined the band
-Talking about how Caress of Steel was a bomb
-Discussion of the solo in La Villa Strangiato
-Showing the original handwritten lyrics
-The Ghost Rider segment
-Nice motion graphics throughout

I'll def be picking up the Bluray for the bonus material.

Thanks Steven.

predictable highs (Moving Pictures) and lows (Caress of Steel).
LOL, I had to stay home & take care of my sick kid yesterday. I think I listened to those 2 albums like 3 times each over the course of the day. Maybe Hemispheres once as well. :Drogar-Happy(DBG):
