Hello.
Trying to find a PC laptop to run Vegas but running into questions:
This one looks good, for about $999
Acer Aspire S5-391-9880-US 13.3" Ultrabook Computer
1.9GHz Intel Core i7-3517U Dual-Core4GB of Onboard DDR3 RAM256GB Solid State DriveIntegrated Intel HD Graphics 400013.3" HD CineCrystal LED-Backlit Display1366 x 768 Native Resolution1 x Thunderbolt, 2 x USB 3.0802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0Integrated Webcam, Microphone & SpeakersWindows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)
But this is the SONY Vaio used with their "video backpack journalism" solution (Mfr# VJBK-1TVV):
Sony VAIO S Series 15 SVS15123CXB 15.5" Notebook Computer (Black) ($850)
2.5GHz Intel Core i5-3210M Dual-Core6GB of 1333MHz DDR3 RAM500GB 7200rpm Hard DriveIntegrated Intel HD Graphics 400015.5" Full HD IPS LED-Backlit Display1920 x 1080 Native ResolutionSuperMulti DVD Burner802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0Integrated Webcam, Microphone & SpeakersWindows 8 (64-bit)
I am coming from Media100 (back in the day) and FCP7 on MAC computers so I am not familiar with 64-bit architecture and an NLE that can take anything you throw at it, but pardon the confusion, but can the SONY laptop take 1080 video over a USB drive? I am not going to expect it to do RAW or 4K, just 1080 probably 30p. I am not even doing 1080 60p (AVCHD2.0). Could the port replicator on the VAIO run to an eSata drive? I understand Thunderbolt is the next big thing and know the Acer will work but I'd like to stick with SONY.
