I want to run one monitor with Vegas on it and the other just the preview on it can I do this with Vegas? I thought you could?and yes my video card can run 4 sep monitors or 3 and a tv because I run a tv now.sorry never mind I figured it out .

In Vegas use Options > Preferences > Preview Device and under the Device dropdown select Windows Secondary Display. Then when you press the external preview button on the top of the Vegas preview window, it will show your video in full screen mode on your second monitor.

As long as you don't have the desktop spread across the monitors...then you only have "one" monitor, not a secondary.

You would be better off using an NTSC monitor (or TV) if you plan to use the full-screen preview for color-correction, etc.., if you plan for your video to be watched on a TV. Computer monitors have much better resolution and much deeper (millions more) color, so what you see on a computer monitor -- what looks good on it -- may not look so good on a TV.

Is it normal for the image on the secondary monitor(T.V) not to play normal? It doesn't play at full frame, it looks like it's skipping frames a little, but on the computer monitor it's fine. I'm running the image from my DVX to the T.V.

There's some reprocessing going on to jam the video back into DV land, squirt it thru the firewire, then convert to analog for the monitor.

If there are are a lot of things going on in the vid (CC, and so forth), you'll get some bottlenecks.

How do I convert it to analog? thanks. And while I have your attention, how do I have credits role on the video image. You know how in the movies where the credits are appearing while the movie starts. I spent all weekend trying to do this, my head hurts.

Thanks

1. You need to render the movie first.

2. Use the scrolling text plugin.

If you spent an hour reading the manual, you wouldn't have wasted a weekend!

OK, the first part of that isn't correct . . . you run the preview out by firewire to your camera and the from the camera to the TV. Rendering does not need to happen first. The camera will do the conversion from digital to analog.

Second, the scrolling text effect is only one way of doing it. Look for the text options in the Media Generators.

And last, let's not get snippy. The guy is just trying to learn.

I tried to make the text appear on the video, but I could not get it to appear alone, it appears with a black background then it fades out and the video appears. I even try to cut and past the text into the video, but only the video appears, I tried to put the text underneath the video time line, but it just plays the video. So david, if I look for text options, I can eliminate the black background and just have the text appear in the picture?

You can, but choose one of the text options which has a checkerboard pattern behind it. That's the visual representation of an alpha channel (transparency).

Otherwise, you can go into the text properties tab and lower the bar the Background properties (the slider which fades from black to checkerboard) all the way to the bottom.

Or, look at the numeric values under the color chart: R(ed), G(reen), B(lue), A(lpha). Change Alpha to 0.
