Okay, almost awake enough now to be coherent. My thoughts in more detail:
The snapshot sequences were the best realization of Sergei Eisenstein's theory of montage yet.
The movie was basically a 90 minute music video, but whatever.
The plotting is brilliant since it tells a 3-act structure story (kind of) with subplots and everything through the repetition of one event by revealing different stuff each time.
The metaphor for the casino as life (life's a crapshoot) works so well especially as the stakes are super high and everything is super random at the casino. The fact that the casino is rigged and that Lola is able to win by sheer force of will is kind of a rejection of existentialism that works great.
The use of miniDV cams for scenes not from Lola's point of view is bizarre but brilliant. A counterpoint to the subjective devices used in the sequences with her to kind of "reports" what's going on to the viewer through video.
Again, I just can't get over how clever the movie was. Good stuff.
