I keep reading that an external monitor is essential for proper focusing when using a 35mm lens adapter.
Question: Is this really always true? (i do realize some adapters flip the image)
I can understand why people would want a larger monitor when doing tracking/moving shots or a lot of racking focus work, however, I more interested in using a 35mm adapter primarily for fairly static interviews.
Also I will be using the a sony z1u which has a focus enlarging function which basically blows the center of the image up to allow for fine focusing before a shot.
So another question would be, does this feature make an external monitor less of a necessity. By the way, the reason I ask is I will be working in some remote regions with little to no electricity. Hence my reluctance to commit to something that will require a monitor. I really want to keep my camera rig as light and portable as possible.
thanks in advance
