Rumor: Sony A7s will have 4K video

I' m thinking a holy manta type converter will make the entire external ND thing a hole lot easier to deal with.

I've got a 3D printer. I disassembled my 67mm filters and made trays for them so I can use them in a cokin-P holder. Which I also modified so it's kind of a micro-matte-box now, with flags and such.
I may make a 77mm version of the trays to sell online.

Ofcourse hoping the RS doesn't completely suck D90 style.
It probably will. And I probably won't mind.

I would love to see pictures of that setup.

I guess the Holy Manta works with fullframe but I am definetly not sure.

Sony A7s (2500) with Holymanta (315), whole range of sang yang cineprimes (€2000), XLR adapter (€700,-)
Would be a ultimate kit for around 5,5K if it was able to shot more than 8bit.
So close to a no brainer buy. For me the 8bit in/ex is the dealbreaker for being not interested in this further great cam.
I do understand the 8bit considering the price.

I have the FS100 and I bought the Pocket for on the side.
The pocket is far from a good camera, but It makes that I don't want to shoot less than 10bit anymore. Or maybe I mean 13 stops of DR and big color depth.

So far the Kinemini with NEX mount (not sure but thought I heard it will be possible in future) and holymanta + external audio solution (to in camera recording) will be my final choice within my budget untill so far. Maybe I save up to the Kinemax.

I know this has been covered...I would just like to get some solid advice for redundancy sake. The Metabones adapter for Canon glass on the A7s. Is the Metabones IV the way to go. Another fellow reference the older III version. I assume Canon L glass is best used with the IV. Is this correct?

What options are you considering for Canon L glass on the A7s?

Yes, I agree. Once you get to work with 10bit or higher it is tough to go back to 8bit.

I use to think that, but after producing a ton of work with a couple of them I just can't agree; it's a great camera.
Of course I don't use it's audio, but I don't use any camera's on board audio in my our work.
Once I learned the output of the screen through a LCDVF and how it translates in post I have no more difficulty nailing exposure with the BMPCC than with any other camera.
Focus peaking works just fine, it's incredibly reliable, never dropped a ProRes frame on tiny inexpensive SD media and the image is world class if you light and shoot it for that.

So I think the BMPCC is an awesome camera, because if it's reliable, and easy to grab focus and exposure and delivers a better image than 95% of the cameras out there - I really don't need more from a camera.
And of course I have a nice monitor mounted to a nice cage (when it's called for) and as I said a nice VF, but that's the same with any camera.

For instance, despite it's wonderful feature set - I'd never pull out the C100 for a TV shoot when I have these cameras.

Hey Guys. Is it me, or does this simple clip seem to show some pretty impressive dynamic range?

Now I recognize that without being there, you never exactly know the conditions, but...uh...this is in the middle of the day in AZ. The DR seems *quite* impressive. Again, maybe I'm wrong, but I just thought I'd share.

I totally agree on the dynamic range. Too bad the shutter speed was so fast for many of the shots (I suspect because of the 3200 ISO lower limit in S-Log).

The dynamic range does look impressive with S-LOG 2. Looking forward to seeing more tests against other cameras to see just how much range it has. It's not as easy to grade as RAW, but I graded one of his sample S-LOG 2 clips from the video above. Vimeo altered the gamma a bit, but I wanted to see how far it could be pushed. It grades well, but can get a bit of banding if pushed too hard due to 8-bit 4:2:0. This camera would be the obvious choice over many if it output 10-bit 4:2:2. I added some special "Sony A7S" titling for the fun of it. :D

In was guessing for 1,3 and 4. hoped the a7s whas not the 4th (fs700), it looks bad in the shadow. But you saw already how strong the green and red color on the robot popped in the F55picture, so that was a given.

Nice picture , but when John waves his hand in-front of his he will get nice wavy effect due to the rolling shutter and you will be very tried of carrying a huge external 4k recorder that has not been made yet .
