Ruined I am

So I just shot my first ever serious short film today, and we went behind schedule and wound up shooting at night....without lights....Sigh, now I have a whole lot of 12db noise footage, and it's still pretty dark....

Those things pack serious punches. i've been too afraid to test them at night outside for fear my neighbors get angry at the blinding beams of light.

I had to make softboxes for them for inside lighting that consist of clothes hangers and paper towels.

How much did it push you over budget? if you answered "around zero" then your not ruined. Unless, you did spend a ton of money.. then you might be ruined indeed..

I dunno.. I'm not a doctor.. but I do know..

reshooting is probably a possibility, and since you have shot it once, the second time will be far easier and faster.

Actually reshooting isn't a possibility coz my actors were all doing that for free...and they'd be preeetty pissed off if we had to reshoot, not to mention the fact that the scene in question had TONNES of running. boo. So much for continuity...

You might be able to save some footage with color correction. If you have After Effects with Color Finesse there's a lot you can do. Also, the Remove Grain function in AE is amazing.

But, footage shot with Gain on makes it way more difficult. :(

Working for free isn't as much of a problem as people make it out to be.. if they actually want to be part of the film and see it succeed.. then i am sure they would grit n bear a reshoot to make it the best it can be.

a one time use location.. now thats a different story..
