Just got an email that the estimated ship date is now a week later - July 21 for reservation holders like me. Frustrating, but if the product's as good as people say it is, it'll be worth it. I added their $500 filter set to my order too, which looks to be quite a good deal.

Really can't wait to get my hands on this baby...
 
If I get mine by August, I will be pleasantly surprised. Redrock kinda screwed this product launch up... Glad I bought a cheaper mattebox to get me through shoots from April 15th (when I ordered) til now (still at least 3 weeks from delivery).

Had a few days with the RR Filter set. I didn't get to test them with RED but with the HVX and outdoors I didn't notice any wicked anomalies, they didn't seem to perform any different than others that I've used. Will reserve judgement for full-on side-by-side testing but they're quite the addition (much-needed, actually) at a very good price.

We understand that delays are never welcomed, and we gritted our teeth when it was clear we would need some additional time and notified you as soon as we knew this was the case.

I know that going back over our original cautions that a new product release may have unforeseen delays etc. won't help matters here, and we hear loud and clear that for future product releases we will not take any payment until it's on the shelves and ready to ship.

We did think we were comfortably within our original timeframe when we took orders, but as we continued to evaluate the product we felt our top priority was to produce an exceptional product, unfortunately at the expense of a longer delivery time, and we delivered on this. We hope you will feel you have been rewarded for the additional time with the improvements and additional features we added during this time. After all the current orders are delivered, the microMatteBox will almost certainly go up in price to reflect these additions.

I can only ask that you grant us a little more patience and know that this is our number one focus right now.
 
I've resigned all indignation. When it's done, it's done. In the great words of Orsen Welles shilling for Moldavi, "We sell no wine before its time". It's like a tax return check. It'll drop when you need it but don't expect a delivery date from the Feds. So when it gets here, it gets here. Until then I sub rent. The lesson learned: never drop a dime on a product until it's on the shelves.

That is, indeed, the lesson, but the further lesson should be "... until it's on the shelves and after the early adopters have reported all the bugs and the manufacturer's gotten them all sorted out."

Being the very first to buy a product may result in some limited period of bragging rights, but you're likely to be more satisfied if you can hold off while things get refined.
