I'm pretty new to Motion and final cut studio 2 and I was wondering something. Whenever i create something in motion and then send it back into my timeline in FCP with my dvx footage, it always looks like crap compared to what I created in Motion...Should i be exporting my sequence to Motion instead of importing graphics created in motion into an FCP DV timeline ? How do you guys do it ?

any help is appreciated, thanks.

What do you mean exactly it looks like crap? In final cut, DV often plays at a lower quality for speed, but that doesn't reflect the final product. If you want to see it in full quality, either set the RT tab in the corner of your timeline to Playback Video Quality: High, or stream it out via firewire and view on an NTSC monitor. I wouldn't use motion project files directly in final cut as there are often rendering glitches, and you are better off having a real quicktime movie than a proxy because if you ever manage your final project and then delete the original footage, the motion file will be referencing footage that's no longer there and you will get a red offline footage screen.

So Batutta you mean i should compress the motion file into a quicktime movie and then send it back to FCP....I've only got a few months under my belt workin with this program so I'll check out the link stuck footage provided.

Yep, just compress it into whatever format the FCP sequence is. Also, it's a good idea, if you sent a shot to Motion to apply an effect, when you bring the effected shot back into final cut, put it on the layer just above the same shot. You never know when you might have to re-do it and it's good to have the original shot there.
