Rotoscoping

So what is it really? I've seen this term thrown around several times, and have just played along acting like I knew what it was ... I'm tired of acting.

What is it, and how do you do it in Vegas?

Now, my GUESS is that it's just using the Besier Mask (did I even spell that right, and WHY is it called "Besier"?) and key framing EVERY individual frame (or until the next movement) to cut an object out.

Along with that Besier Mask thing, is it JUST me, or can it actually follow the curves/lines it detects to some degree. I've swarn that at times when I'm applying a point, it will actually have a bit of a curved path over a portion of whatever subject I'm cutting out (i.e. will automatically curve over/in line with a fold of clothing, etc.).

Thanks folks.

You have the right idea. Rotoscoping refers to the process of masking an object out of the frame by hand whether that's using bezier masks or another variant method.

I believe the term bezier is used to refer to the mathematical forulae behind the masking.
