What does everyone use for rotoscoping? I know Satish recently created a script for it but I haven't been able to check it out, plus I hear it's pretty limited. Suggestions?

Re: Rotoscoping

Sorry, I mean kinda like what is done in the movie "Waking Life", where you actually animate/draw over the footage.

Re: Rotoscoping

I have Ulead Media Studio Pro 7 that has VIDEO PAINT but I would like to have something better (and if possible, something that integrates with Vegas).

Re: Rotoscoping

Use AE, better though is combustion which has onion skin
or if you got photoshop, bring in a filmstrip and paint or run an action

Re: Rotoscoping

I use flash. I have a short 30sec video on my web page that was all rotoscoped in flash. go to the short films page, it is #3 "faux target ad".

Re: Rotoscoping

Bauhaus Mirage - its the app I use the most, ahead of photoshop. AE. vegas. premiere.

It has a very full feature set, but if its Rotoscoping in particular you are looking at you will appreciate - the natural media options, the LightTable (you can set your project to view semi transparent versions frames of the previous and next frames (in diff colors etc) - so that you can see what you are currently working on relative to what has been done and what is coming) this is invaluable to any animation... try out the demo and do a couple of the tutorials on Bauhaus' website - www.bauhaussoftware.com

but, if 895 US is too much for you - you can give Project Dogwaffle a go. http://www.squirreldome.com/ its not nearly as 'finished' as Mirage, but has allot of the same functionality, but lacks the Higher end functions of Mirage (like photoshop elements to full CS) much of the same for 1/20th the price.
