Rotorazor 3?

Yes, this will be coming next month.

Pro's:
------
Near zero light loss (from the Image Element itself, not total light loss)
Higher perceivable sharpness

Con's:
-------
35mm lens aperture limited to F4
Less diffusion resulting in hazier bokeh and more chance of vignetting with wide lenses

This will be a great solution for any type of low light shooting!

ahh interesting...and this will be available next month, like 4 days from now come April 1st? :) but hmmm...apparently not shipping until after may 29th...thats a two month wait!

Hi,

That is the SGblade package lead time, RR3 sold separately (for current SGblade owners) will be available before the end of April.

I thought that was the point of the RR1 but with the ability to stop down. Why is this better?

wayne, you need to figure out a better numbering system.... rr1= 0.5 stops, rr2= 1 stop and rr3= <0.5 stops... kinda anti-intuitive

when i saw this thread i thought you'd finally made a more diffused GG! thought any more about that? :)

i still think a super fine grain ~1.5 stop GG would be F-ing awesome!!!!! :D

a little off topic. But what about updating the website!! I've been checking daily.

sorry for the change of topic.

I agree, it seems users are more accustom to expressing in F stops, which sometimes can be pretty meaningless. I would personally prefer to to express adapter light loss as a %age of light transmission.

We could bring out a more diffusive GG, but with more diffusion come larger grain, not finer.

We have spent all week on the website and product photography. We have added the new categories which are now online (rods support items, power options, storage solutions), we are now working on each items order page one by one. The SLR lens mount pages are done, check it out! Next on the list is the PL mount & Non Flip Tube :)

i get that with your current technique more diffusion equals larger grain, which would hinder aperture and Fstop capabilities more... that's why i added the conditional clause of "super fine grain" :)

it's gotta be possible. the g35 does it! imagine a g35 GG that spins :)

have you ever tried white aluminum oxide grits? starting with 5 micron and finishing with 3 micron for example? i really have no idea what i'm talking about - i'm just going off this article - http://www.dokasphotos.com/techniques/ground_glass/

That is a very good example. The G35's bokeh is beautiful. I always liken RR2's bokeh to the G35.

Man I've tried it all :D Grinding with AO or Silicone Carbide with different grit sizes. RR1 is in fact an AO lapped finish. In the early days I experimented with Microcrystalline wax (old DVinfo.net threads) with varied results. I have also experimented with a lot of plastic or acrylic type diffusion materials.

Oh, the good old days! But it has been nice to start experimenting again now that the Blade is released with interchangeable RR's :)

An Update! looking good. And what exactly would "Miscellaneous" under your RR section be??? =)

Hehe, don't get too excited, this will simply have various amounts to allow customers to pay for any items/services that are not on the website.

RR 3 sounds like a great idea Wayne - sometimes you don't want too little DOF and the speed and sharpness is always good.
