Rotolight LED burned out, are there replacements?

Hello!

I have a rotolight (RL48ASTEALTH) model, and one of the LEDS burned out. Is there anywhere I can go to get a replacement LED? I haven't had it very long, so I'm not sure why this one particular LED decided to burn out on me. I haven't jostled or dropped it or anything like that too.

Failing that, anybody have similar experiences?

"I haven't had it very long" that may mean it is still under warranty and if so I would contact the seller to get it replaced or repaired. I have seen many cluster of leds in many forms, wether rectangular or spherical with defective leds straight out of the box. Those little leds are not usually replaceable as they are part of a cookie cutter method of mass production and are not individually interchangeable. Even if one can desolder one out and replace it with another, it must be the exact type and electrical characteristic of the rest or else it may cause a cascading effect of others on the same bank to fail as well, as current demands may differ from adjacent ones. They sometimes come defective in the form of not lighting at all, lighting at a dimmer level or the dreaded flickering/flashing syndrome. If the unit is out of warranty, then I suggest you keep on using it with the rest of the 47 good leds as one out won't make a noticeable difference in light output, especially since they are all clustered together. It may cost more to replace that one led than to go for another better quality unit.

Hi Budgieboots,
We are sorry to hear about the small problem with the LED on your RL48, this is a very rare occurrence on this unit as we normally expect an average component life of 75,000 hours.
We recently upgraded the RL48-A to the RL48-B model (now with 25% extra brightness). We keep past batches of LED's so we can repair legacy editions of the product. To get your unit repaired, please contact the dealer where you purchased the unit and they will make the arrangements for you. Alternatively you can upgrade to the RL48-B, in which case you can contact us directly via the www.rotolight.com website.
