Rotational head?

Hi, wondering if anyone could give me guidance. Looking for a way to mount a camera pointed directly upwards or directly downwards in such a way that you can rotate the camera 360 degrees while keeping it in the same position, centre of tripod. Is there any sort of fluid head or adaptor that might do the trick?

A nodal head might do it but a far cheaper way would be to DIY a wooden box or metal L-bracket. Mount the camera upright in the box or long bracket arm and drill a hole (should be 1/4in or 3/8in thread) or better yet cut a slot to align the axis of your lens directly over the axis of your tripod head. Wouldn't cost you more than $30 with parts from bunnings. To point it down the tripod is always going to be in the way so you're talking a jib/crane.

EDIT: updated with a sketch

L bracket is what you are looking for. Google it and you'll find multiple companies making the. You may be able to rent it as well.

Weaver Steadman and Ronford F7 both do this trick.

I have a Weaver Steadman. Very versatile piece of kit that I mainly use on my slider.

Ronford f7, Cartoni lamda... they all have the same concept. they are pricy though i believe

Thanks very much for the info everyone.

Egg Born, that diagram was very useful.

And, Shooter, you own that gear? When I did some research into the price of it, I nearly fainted.

Actually..I am kind of lucky in this regard. I have it on permanent loan from a very good mate ( retiring Grip)...the intention is to pay for it some day but meantime I slip him beer money every time I use it.

Tomorrow..a KFC shoot with it and my slider.
