Rotating platform questions

Hello
I am about to build a rotating platform that can withstand weight of 1-2 persons.
I will be applying the same concept as a spinning record player.
Has anyone else built anything similar that could share some tips and construction do's+ dont's?

thanx in advance

I would weld a low circular platform to the size you want with a large sealed bearing bracket in the middle and with fixed skateboard wheels on the outboard sides. I would put a wheel of smooth plywood on the top of it that will roll on the skate wheels. If you need a large platform you can either brace it with wood or metal as long as the rolling area is smooth for the wheels. The top wheel of plywood should be thick enough (5/8" or better) and well braced to not warp with the varied weight of the actors on it.

So to reprise: Round 1/2" conduit tubing welded platform on the floor. Bend it by slow and steadily bending against your knee. Put floor protecting padding on it and you can even make it disassemble for ease of transport. Place a rack with a bolt in a sealed large bearing in the middle as a pivot point for an upper plywood wheel that will roll over skate board wheels (8? distributed equally around the perimeter.) Top platform wheel is wood, braced. You can put thin cables on the edges and then pull the cables to move it from a distance.

I hope this is clear... Sometimes as I three dimensionally create things in my head it is hard for me to explain the madness to others. Gary
