Rostronics Britek Back In Stock!!!

good news for all of those waiting to get their hands on a set of the 250 watt BRITEK lights from rostronics that have been out of stock for quite some time now.

I spoke with Tom last night, and there is an entire carton of the 250 watt studio lights on their way right now via cargo ship on the ocean. he said it will be between apx 2-4 weeks for them to be ready to ship out from the warehouse.

BUT, heres even better news. RIGHT NOW.. you can buy the new improved 200 watt studio light.. which is exactly like the 250's .. only a little smaller and only 200 watts. there is no current picture on the website.. instead it shows the
Britek G-2000 200W Light. for 69.00 ...this is only because he hasnt updated the site yet.

so... it shows this: http://www.rostronics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=G2000&cat=27

but you get one of these in 200 watts instead of 250: http://www.rostronics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=G%2D250%2F300W&cat=27

but if you order one of the g-2000's now. you will be sent a new improved 200 watt studio light. the new 200 watt is exactly the same design and features as the 250's and the larger studio lights with focus control and nice removeable barndoors and all that jazz that we love in the larger studio build lights. im not sure if they will also have a softbox option when the site is updated. but you could ask Tom if you were going to order some. if you have any questions call them for clarification. but i know that alot of people have been waiting for the 250's to come back in.. and well, they are on the way, but you can order the same thing in 200 watts right now. again .. any questions.. contact rostronics.

just thought id let people know in case they were waiting for these to come in. or were looking for some lights. :)

It mentions that they are capable of being mounted on-camera. Does anyone actually do that? Is that feasable?

They are a heck of a lot cheaper than the advertised on-camera lights with battery packs..., anyone ever do this alternative?

I remember some time ago, Barry green asked about the softboxes diameter... the question is: What's the diameter of the 24x24 or the 32x32 softboxes? Does anybody have that?

Thanks!

naeem... remember that as i said if you order that 200 watt light your NOT going to get the model shown there. you will get the new version which is ike the other like i posted, but a slightly smaller 200 watt one. that model does not have a hotshoe on the mount to my knowledge.

taubkin- are you looking for the diameter of the speed ring for the softboxes?
the ring for the 24x24 id guess to be apx 7" offhand. but thats for the 600 watt light. i can measure for sure when i have some time if you want. but i would think it also depends on the size light you have, becuase the face of the 250 watt studio light is smaller than the face f the 600 but BOTH of them, have 24" softboxes. the speed ring is going to be just a little bigger than the diameter of the face of the light, and simply expand to the 24" box with the rod inserts from the ring.

I get it IAL,

Thanks for the help!

I have a 650W fresnel with a 5" 3/4 ring, so anything between 5" 1/2 and that would fit alright. Maybe the 250's might do... I'll check with Tom as soon he recieves the new shipment.

Nice to know Tom's back!! Yay, I can finally get some of those 250's!! I think he was gone for the last 2 weeks on vacation or something(wasnt answering my e-mails or picking up his phone-straight to answering machine). I wanted to order more lights. As for the the new G-200's, he sent me one 3 weeks ago and it is awesome(and the name makes more sense). He also said that the old, out-of-stock G-3000's will soon be replaced with new G-300's(again, name more appropiate)!!

and the new g-200' s DO still have a flash shoe mount built into the stand adaptor so you could mount it on the camera if you wanted, but it would likely get the camera hotter than you would want it to, and you would probably have to have it plugged in somewhere.

nice little light though.

I have a G-2000. It is hot shoe mountable, but it's WAY too heavy to actually do it. I'd be afraid that I'd break something.

..yeah i might mount it on a flash shoe somewhere that wasnt on the camera, but it would be reaaly impractical for an on camera light. the new one is pretty light, but like you said , its still heavier than anything id want to throw into a flash shoe

What about their stands. Need as light, small and portable as possible, but don't want flimsy.

Any thoughts? Don't need air cushioned, but curious about the others.

I bought a couple of these lights and I think they're great considering the price. I picked up a 250 and a 600 with a softbox. I plan on getting 2 more 600's and maybe even a 1000 for the price....I think the standard stands are ok, but I will upgrade for the heavy duty stands on my next order.

For the money, I don't think you can beat these lights.....you can get a 600 with barndoors, softbox and stand for less than the price of an Arri light with no options!

Although, when I have the doe I will get a few Arri fresnels...but for now, these Britek lights work just fine and at a fraction of the cost for a comparible set of lights.

again, I'd upgrade for the heavier stands next time.

Emailed Tom the other day and he has plenty of 250s in stock, ready to ship. Don't forget we get a dvxuser.com discount.
