I need to get a place, and it's a bit tough to get one for 2-3 months.

Craigslist is a good place to find both roommates and short-term rentals, if'n you haven't already exhausted their possibilities...

I have, and most of the apts. I'm finding are 6 months or one year minimum.

No place you'd actually want to live in will do less than 6 months. Well, I guess there are extended stay hotels, but that's $$$$$.

Not true; once a year I find my folks an apartment for one month or so when they visit. For example, earlier this year they found a decent one-bedroom place a block off Fairfax (around the corner from Cantor's Deli) for around $800 or thereabouts, furnished, cable, internet, bedding, towels and kitchenware included.
