Rookie Question on Filters...

What do you guys reccomend? I have a Century .6 WA on my DVX 100b and need a UV filter and also a Polarizer filter. I shoot a lot of shots in the snow...

Also would you reccomend the SLIM lens or the EXTRA WIDE lens? is the only difference that i can put another lens on top the EXTRA WIDE? will they both be vignetting free?

Hi:

Not sure if you can even use a filter successfully on that lens, you might want to make a call to Century/Schneider and ask them. If you are able to use one, undoubtedly go for the thinnest you can find as the wider the lens, the more likely any lens is to vignette in the corners. Besides a Pola, you would want to consider a set of NDs and ND grads. All other filters are best done in post these days. I make my own colored grads in Photoshop and in Magic Bullet, much more flexible than real filters ever could be.

thanks dan. But shouldn't i be able to just screw on a 95mm filter to it? what would be the reason that i couldn't use a filter? thanks

Dan thank you so much for your post! I called Century and found out that the old .6x WA would not work with a filter but the new one(which i have) would...but it only works with a 102mm filter that only century makes. so I really only have that one option. anyways, thanks again, much appreciated!
