has anyone seen this film? I have just seen it, and I really don't like it. what is your opinion? I feel it is frugal...-is this the right word?

which one? zeffirelli's or luhrmann's? i wouldn't think the more recent version could be described as the more convervative or sparing or frugal of the two.

it's the problem with trendy movies. it looks like the 90's Vogue magazine vision of shakespeare work. when it was released i think people like it, but if you're looking at it now for the first time it's a bit ridiculous. let's have a look at marie antoinette in 3 years :-)

I love the Luhrmann version -- but I was in high school when it came out and have watched it off and on for the past 10 or so years... and I like all of Luhrmann's work really.

On another Shakespearean note I really like Branagh's "Much Ado About Nothing"
