Pain in the ass
I searched and did not find a thread for this, so...

This is a really amazing little film, the directorial debut (I think) of John Turturro, and produced by the Coen Bros.

I saw it at Film Forum this summer. I think it comes out on DVD in Feb.

It's a semi-musical with an absolutely amazing cast, who turn in really great work, esp Gandolfini and Winslet. And Elaine Stritch shows up for a hilarious and heartbreaking cameo.

I was just talking to an actor about it tonight, so thought I'd give it a shout out. See it if you can.

yeah, i liked this one too. its weird though, right? the whole musical thing?

i bought a region 2 copy from amazon uk because i had been waiting for so long. it never got a theatrical release because of changes in studio ownership i think. its turturro's third he also did Illuminata and Mac and they're both worth watching.

It's actually playing here in Austin at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. Based on what you guys are saying, I may have to check it out. I thought Mac was really well done.

Yeah, it is definitely a weird film, but very full of heart and like I said the actors really cook. I will def get his other two films.
