A friend of mine called me from NAB and said I need to check out these new lights. Anyone ever heard of these or better yet used them?

He said they are daylight balanced and put out a ton of soft light that rivals HMI's. So I am curious if anyone knows anything about these Rololights.

I saw 'em on display, walked past 'em. They appear to be a single-tube fluorescent that can be snapped together into various configurations. Didn't look all that practical for movie lighting, seemed more appropriate for event/display lighting, but then again I didn't stop and talk to them.

If you want cheaper ready-made fluorescent fixtures, check out the lineup from http://www.prompterpeople.com. These people are serious about low prices and great customer service, I have one of their prompters and it's easily 1/3 the cost of anything else I saw at the show, yet it works great! I'm not really in the market for more fluo's, but the prices were comparatively dirt cheap -- they had one unit for $299. Their site for the lights is http://www.flolight.com. Not sure what they offer in the way of cases for portability... might be more appropriate for a studio shot?

I have no connection to these people other than as a happy, satisfied customer.
