Rolls MX124 Q's

That was my first mixer some years back (well the MX54s anyway), and it sounded surprisingly okay for the money. The 18V phantom power will be okay for some, but not all mics. Better check with the mic manufacturer first.

If money is super tight, it will do okay, but if you can afford it you should look elsewhere...

Okay, I'm going to say this again. What kind of work are you going to be doing. If you're going to be doing bag work/ENG work exclusively, then get a baggable mixer. If you're just shooting narrative movies then why not consider a good sit and mix mixer like the Mackie 1202 - you can pick them up used for under $300 and get a great mixer, rather than settling for a mediocre mixer that you will want to replace quickly. You most likely will not need to replace the Mackie for a long time.

You consistently in this group see many recommendations for baggable mixers - don't forget that there are many other types of mixers that work very well (as long as they aren't Behringer.) ;-)

Sounds good, Thing is Im looking at getting a portable mixer, battery powered so when im on a location i dont have to look for AC power. Sometimes we shoot way out in the boonies and need battery powered stuff.

All im shooting is narrative movies. No run and gun stuff.

you really dont want anything that doesnt have normal meters and at least ability hear return from the camera in the flip of the thumb
and iam not talking about how the **** is sounds generally ;[-)
