rolling image over rolling credit

Hi,

I have some logos (sponsors) to put in a rolling credit I'm making in Boris Crawl but I can't manage to find a way to properly match the rolling speed of both.

The best way I've found so far is to keyframe the logo images over the rolling credit but there must be a way to do this properly!

Can someone help me please?

Thanks

The best way to do rolling credits IMO is to make a long photoshop doc that is the width of your video, with the text credits. I find the text in FCP to be a drag to work with, and it all has to be the same size, or same bold/regular state. So if you make the credits in Photoshop, you can also place the images where you want them on another layer. Then when you have everything placed where you want it on layers in your working Photoshop doc:

Select All / Copy Merged / File-New / Paste (into the new doc)

Then delete the unneeded background layer, and you are left with a one layer PSD with everything on it.

Then if you have small changes you just go to the original Photoshop doc, make changes, save, select all / copy merged (that copied all layers merged as one) etc... Then save over the single layer document you already made, then reconnect it in FCP.

Make sure you turn off the background layer in the original document so your text will be on a transparent layer. If you are rolling footage behind the credits, you may want to add some drop shadow either in photoshop, or in FCP. And don't make your text 100% white. It can cause fluttering when viewed on TV. Add a little gray.

Good luck!

Thanks Chadfish,

That's an option tough you can vary the size, bold/regular state in FCP title in the bundled Boris calligraphy :)

I find it really simply to use... If you don't need to include images though :(

Just as an FYI if you use the standard FCP scrolling text that's true, but Boris title crawl is included free in FCP and it allows you to do much more, different sizes, bold and regular text, even different colors on different lines. You can also copy a word doc and it will paste with the correct formatting. I do agree that the standard scrolling text sucks but the boris is pretty good.

Edit: naavt beat me to it.

On another note naavt have you tried leaving some space in your credits and adding the images on another track and animate them using basic motion?

Hey guys thanks!

I was not aware that there is a free Boris text plug for scrolling text. I'll have to check that out!

Still the Photoshop method will work with images if you don't want to spend too much time tweaking the motion on images to get them to move exactly with the text.

Take care.
