rolling credits and logo flicker

My rolling credits at the end of my film are flickering....as is my logo at the beginning of my film...any ideas of how to remove it? I tried flicker removal, no luck and added a guassian blur but it doesn't seem to make a diff.

Also do i need to make any adjustments to my logo resolution? It's a png file but should it be treated like a still photo and have the resolution or bpi reduced?

they look fine still, its when the motion kicks in that there is a bit of what seems to be flickering over the font....i have yet to check it on my tv.

Interlaced or progressive? Don't know about the logo, its a PNG. file and i imported it into premiere.....so ?????

Hi,

Likely it is because it a font that has a serif. This is causing a field problem to pulse and flicker during the interlace between the upper and lower fields. It's common if there is a thin, one- or two-pixel line in an image in an NTSC image.

You have a few choices. One is to change the font to something else. You can make the font larger. You can add a blur.

You can change how the "Field Options" are handled Clip>Video Options>Field Options, any of the three, can help.

Finally, you can make the logo static. It may not be what you were looking to do, but it may be the solution to the problem with the software you have.

i thought sans serif fonts were best font for this type of stuff...especially subtitles and such.....or am i horribly mistaken?

Hi,

No. You are right. Oops, I meant, I said it I thought I likely has a serif. Sans Serif means Without Serif.

whats really weird about this, is that I had this stuff done in 1.5 pro, and when i transferred it to CS3 thats when the flicker started.....what the heck?

is your premiere project interlaced or progressive?

anyway, a couple of suggestions would be to

1. check, view your project title section in the monitor window at 100% size AND @ full res. when video or stills ect. are not viewed at thier naitive size/resolution you can get weird effects such as miore, and /or flicker. this is probably the most common reason for things looking weird with and interlaced or miore type flicker before export (aside from incorrect useage or mis-implementation of 24p issues which are seperate)

2. right click your rolling credit in the timeline, and go to the field options and select "flicker removal.

3. make sure that the image you have imported is not accidentally set to run at a different frame rate than the project in its "interpret footage" settings. this is really unlikely, but worth checking anyway
