Roland R-26 Analog input

I just bought a Roland R-26 field recorder, and it works great. My only question is is it possible to separate the two analog inputs into their own stereo pairs. In other words can i have the 1/L XLR input record to one stereo set (channels 1 and 2) and have the 2/R XLR input record to another stereo set (channels 3 and 4)? I called Roland and asked them, but the guy I talked to had no idea if it was possible. Is separating the two analog inputs a matter of software or hardware?

It's a matter of being to route your inputs to the proper record tracks. I don't know that machine, so I can't answer the question other than to say if the machine doesn't have the ability to route any input to any record track, then it might not be able to do what you want.

I have one of those, and I think the closest you can get is to set the input to 2-channel, analog (mono). That creates 2 mono WAV files. If you really need them to be stereo, then you would need to duplicate the channels in an audio editor.
