But what about in relation to the camera itself? Is there a standard? Such-and-such from the center of the lens to the centerline of the rods, for instance?
But there has to be one of some sort. Otherwise, the attachments wouldn't line up properly in front of the lens... Even if the attachments are adjustable, up and down, there has to be an acceptable range.
All I know is that 15 on 60 is correct. Other than that, to me it would seem like center of gravity and balance and all that stuff. I really don't have any idea as I have never used manufatcured support rods before. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
85mm is what I heard from Dan, here is the DVXuser exchange...
Im thinking about building 15mm support rods for the DVX.
For anyone out there who owns support rods, can you measure the distance from the bottom of the camera to the center of the 15mm rod?

Standard optical axes to rods is 85mm. Your DVX lens to base camera plate is...?
Subtract from 85mm and that's the "raiser".

The other Dan I mean... BTW, I'm still in the process of building my DIY rods. I found a couple of parts that should make it much easier. I've got a music video shoot this weekend, and my goal is to have the rods done in time. If I get em don, I will post pics and instructions.
Me, I've just got 5 days off coming up and am thinking of ways not to be bored out of my mind. The materiels-supply situation here sucks big time, but I think I could manage rods, so...something to do.
Of course, I have nothing to mount on them once I'm done, but that's not the point.
I think you should improve your ceiling fan camera mount...could be a market for one of those  (or was it a wheel attached to the ceiling, I can't remember - but the fan would give you a motorized spin at least)
