Can you find these locally or do you have to order online? can anyone tell me a cheap source for rods or a mounting system?

The fact that I don't have them. LOL

And whoever changed my thread-title, thanks!

So I need rods and a baseplate.

the cheapest rods i've found are the indiRAILS - http://indifocus.com/indiraILS.html
fully adjustable, carbon fiber and cheap

indiRAILS w/10" carbon fiber rods - $99
indiRAILS w/18" carbon fiber rods - $129

apparently the guy who runs the site is having some kind of family crisis and will be out of action until the 12th... that's what someone said in another thread.

Ah! Those are cheap! Is that the complete setup? I'm not sure what I should be looking for, to be honest.

Should there be anything more to it than that?

Yeah I saw those. I think I'll order them tonight if I can't find any local.

Ty you dudes.

Cinevate has em for $30 each, not TOO bad of a price.

They're the only ones I know of. Not really cheap though. I'll need 3 of those for a 35mm adapter, plus 45cm rails and a mounting plate, not to mention making a lens support. I like the look of Cinevate's stuff though - quality it looks.

Our complete rails systems (no need to part them out) are designed for adapter use and they just got a lot better with our new heavy wall 15mm carbon tubes..likely the stiffest on the market. These tubes are spec'd by us, and come factory direct. Early in my own adapter explorations I siimply gave up trying to build a decent rails system when it became obvious that drilling a 15mm hole using a drill press is not only nearly impossible to keep dead accurate, but also not perfectly round. Boring on a CNC mill is the only way to get them repeatably accurate...and we do them on a 4 axis CNC mill. Here's a basic feature list:
  • 100% CNC machined parts
  • Height adjustable base plate already ready for our flip module..no shims.
  • Base plate assembly can be reversed and rods can project rearward guaranteeing a balanced rig on tripod, and a perfect shoulder rig with our rails mounted 12V power supply out back for balance.
  • Each of our blocks can accept standard 5/8" grip rod vertically
  • Toolless operation (except baseplate height).
  • Add a 5/8" stainless riser (approx 7" long), and rotate the base plate 180 and you can mount small cams like the HV20 inverted with no other parts required.
  • 30, 45, and 60cm configurations
  • Bulletproof adustable height brevis support clamp can also be used for lens support.
