Rode VideoMic vs. Rode NTG-2

So I currently own the Rode VideoMic, and am looking to upgrade. I hear lots of good stuff about the Rode NTG-2, and I know that by technical specifications it is superior to the Rode VideoMic. What I'm asking is, has anyone here actually used BOTH personally, and if so, could you find some way to describe the difference in the sound captured with them?

I'd greatly appreciate it.

I'm surprised. No one here, of the hundred FREQUENT posters, and few hundred more casuals, has used both these products personally and can verbally compare.

(in case anyone throws this ol' staple out, yes, I've searched, yes, SIMILAR topics have been discussed, not this one specifically)

One reason might be that the RVM is not considered professional grade and since there are a lot of pros here, they simply might not use it.

What purpose will this particular mic serve?

Aside from personal projects, I do some corporate work, and would just like maybe a crisper sound.

(in response to your signature, it was a gradual decline in characters abilities to get anything accomplished: Bing & Bob, then Dean & Jerry, then Spade & Farley, and finally two potheads, Harold & Kumar)

Armisiano,

You may be completely correct on the Bing and Bob thing!

When you say "corporate work" and "personal projects" what EXACTLY do you mean?

Are you trying to record dialogue from a single individual outside? In a room? Two or more individuals? Are you using it for foley? On a boom? Mounted on a camera? What EXACTLY are you trying to do?

Just need a little more detail.

If you haven't watched it yet, Barry Green and Matt Gettiemier's Sound for Film and Television DVD is well worth the $50.
