The Rode Videomic Pro+ will be shipping soon, and they sent one for me to check out. Here's a video I did today that is a listening test so you can hear what it sounds like with its different settings. I have to say, I'm normally not a fan of mics plugged right in to a camera, but the Videomic Pro+ really surprised me.

I had it plugged right into my Sony a6500. AGC was off, but once or twice it gets a little odd, and I think it was on the camera side. I'm going to be using this more in videos that I do. For the price, this thing is pretty sweet.

What was the level setting on the a6500? I was wondering if this would work in a loud venue like a concert hall.

It was set at "20"..whatever that means on the camera. That's where I've left it because I normally just use a video mic as a reference mic and use a wireless system going to a separate recorder for my dialogue. This was literally the very first time I used this mic in a recording, so I bet I could get it really dialed in with some more real testing. I was really impressed with how it sounded at the 20db gain with the 75Hz filter and spit track output. I may be switching to this mic for these types of videos as this saves me a LOT of time.
