I was wondering if someone could take a picture of their Videomic Pro without the foam windscreen on. I just got one from someone and it seems like its actually "empty"? Is it supposed to look like this?
Yes, that's what it's supposed to look like. Although there's usually a screen on the front of the interference tube, the mic element does sit at the back. The empty tube uses the physical property of inverse wave cancellation to reject sounds entering from the sides of the tube. Im not physics major, so that might not be entirely accurate or complete, but the tube is supposed to be empty.
