Rode VideoMic - experiences?

Hello friends!

A friend recently recommended that I get a Rode VideoMic for my DVX 100B. I was wondering if any of you have tried it, and if you liked it.

Also, does it mount well on the DVX 100B?

Please do let me know, OK?

Best,

Hi Dan,

It will mount ok, and etc etc etc, but the Rode Videomic is a prosumer solution - so if that is what you're looking for then its ok, but not exactly great. If you are looking to use it for a commercial, professional solution to upgrading your DVX's sound, then you have some reading on these forums to do -

read the stickies, then get searching and you'll find a lot of answers.

Yeah the RodeVideo mic will mount well but it's definitly not the kind of mic you want for tv shows, commercials, or features and etc. But if you need a mic to mount i think the Rode Ntg 1 or the Rode Ntg 2 would be great choices. GOOD LUCK!!!!

Hey, I have a Rode Videomic for my compact panasonic 3ccd cam. It's a very good mic but when you use it with the dvx100 you need a stereo 3.5mm - XLR convertor lead. Then plug the XLR into input 2 on the dvx100 and make line 1 and 2 on input 2....stereo audio....not true stereo but hard to tell the diff for most things.

I have the Rode deadcat windshield as well...well worth the extra AUS$50.
Hope this helps.
