Edwin,
I'm using NTG1 mounted with the built-in mic holder, and even with the wide angle lense the mic can be slightly moved backward not to appear in frame. Actually, I purchase a kit from B&H (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/con...s&Q=&sku=400812&is=REG&addedTroughType=search) that includes SM3 Shock mount. You see, while one can slide mic backward to insure it isn't in frame, the absorbing ability of that build-in mic holder is (or might be) another problem.
So that shock mount designed for the reason.
Actually, I like it very much. I searched on this and other forums debating wich one to get. When I felt like ordering NTG1, I borrowed ME66/K6P just to make sure it does appear in frame and the sound quality isn't justified by the price. Then I ordered (received and tested ) NTG1 and now I am very happy with my choice.
