Rode NTG1/2 vs AT4073A

Anybody out there try out or own the Rode NTG1 or NTG2 mic? I've heard all the tests for the AT4073A and certainly am prepared to plunk down the green, but if this relatively new mic by Rode is what they claim it is, I'd love to save the money. If anyone knows anything about it, or have looked at the specs and seen red flags, I'd love to hear it.
Also, any thoughts on the differences between the two - NTG1 and 2? It seems as if the only difference between the two is the NTG1 is powered solely by 48v phantom, whereas the NTG2 can be used with a AA battery, as well. Other than that, and the slight weight and length difference (NTG2 is bigger and heavier), and the in the "maximum SPL" which the Rode rep says is about the sensitivity, I can't find much difference. Neither can the guy at Sweetwater.

I just bought an NTG-1, but have yet to test it out. I will in the next few days though, and post my findings.

Well, I just ran it through a preliminary test, and it seems to work well. Excellent s/n (thanks to the DVX for this as well). It seems to have a fairly "bright" sound, much more so than the built in camera mic.

For my testing setup, I just threw the Rode in the on camera shock-mount, and shot the same thing (talking head) from across the room, with the built in mic on chanel 2, and the Rode on chanel 1.

At first glance, the Rode appears to be a solid piece of equipment. I'm using it at an event tomorrow, and should know more after doing so. If you would like, I can post a link to the test from tonight.
