Rode NTg 3

Has anybody use this one? Rode is claiming that this mic is as reliable as MKH 416 but with a more forgiving pattern. Wondering is that true, because that's the description of very nice microphone, specially under $800.

Yep I have, sound is very impressive, warm with a great low end. It's a huge step up from the NTG 1 and 2.

It does have a slightly wider pattern than a 416, very low handling noise and the storage cylinder is a nice bonus for field work. I'm running it through an SD 302 mixer, great combo. Going to have the chance to run it with a Senn 415T (416) soon.

Cool, that sounds promising, if I buy one I will be running with a 302 too. Can you let me know when you compare it with the 415t?

See how we go, it's always time. I don't like the 416s low filter, with some deep male voices I can never tell whether it's in or out, IMO conflicts with the low rise in the mic :(

Cheers.
