Hey,

Picked one up with use on my Panasonic DVX100 (original). Anyone share their experience with it? How do I set this up? I plan to use the phantom power feature.

You don't need phantom power since the NTG-2 has a battery but you can leave the battery out and use the phantom power switch on the camera if this is what you want to do. Just slide the buttons on the mic power to "on" for the input you have pluged the xlr cable into.

Make certain that on the front of the camera you have selected "mic" and not "line" if you are going direct into the camera and not through a pre-amp.

Plug the mic into xlr port 2 if you want the audio to go onto both tracks. Then set the input switches on the side both to imput 2 unless you are using a second mike at the same time. The manual is pretty easy to read and spells this out.

I bought this mic a couple years back and have only used it a handful of times. Seems pretty solid. I'd also reccomend using phantom power over a battery. Having phantom powered mic jacks is a pro option, and you should use it. Batteries can die, and send different levels of power (the qualifier escapes me) to the mic, so I've been told by audio engineers that if you can use it, you should.

I use the Rode NTG-1 on my DVX and i absolutely love it. I also use the Rode shock mounts and together I get an amazing sound product. I have shot live concerts that are loud as hell to personal interview with it and it works amazing. To use your phantom power just turn the switch behind the lcd on the right side that corisponds to the input it is using, dial in your settings and your good to go.
I would stay away from using battery if you can, I am not sure if you even CAN use a battery with this mic which i am pretty sure you can't, phantom power is the **** and this mic doesn't seem to drain much battery life at all.
The NTG-1 is light and powerful and an amazing deal.
