Rode NTG-2 not working?

I'm running a Rode NTG-2 into a Beachtek DXA-4 then into a Sony FX-1. I plugged everything together but was getting a very very low volume. I've used this mic with other cameras and the sound was just fine. I set the camera volume at 7 out of 10 and the knobs on the DXA to around 6 or 7.
Any ideas here?

Mic battery in good shape? Beachtek input level set to mic? Camera input level set to mic? DXA trim controls are attenuators, not gain controls, with minimum effect on the incoming signal when turned up to 10, maximum effect at 0. At 10 they let the full strength, unaffected, mic signal through, cutting it as they are turned down below that. Always keep them as high as possible without overloading the camera mic inputs, generally all the way up. So turn the DXA's trim controls fully clockwise to 10 and set its output to mono. Camera on manual level control. This should resolve your issue and now you should be getting normal levels on the camera meter when the camera's input gain is somewhere around 2/3 full up. If the levels now are coming on too high, set the camera input gain to 2/3 and turn the DXA trim control down on the active input channel only, leaving the unused channel full up, until you find the DXA setting that gives you normal levels on the camera meter. Make a note for future reference as the resulting DXA setting would be considered normal for that particular mic and camera combination. Leave the camera in manual mode or return it to auto mode, your choice (manual is recommended).
