Rode Lavalier (Micon 2 3.5mm jack) - can this work with DR-100 MKII?

Got the Rode Lav, and the Micon-2 connector, but the lav needs phantom power and the DR-100 MKII only delivers phantom power to the XLR inputs and not the mic-in (Line 2)?

Because I can't seem to get it to work, wondering if this is the reason.

The Rode Lav needs plug in power only with the 3.5mm Micon-2, not phantom power (you can use XLR-delivered phantom power when you use the Micon-5 connector: this delivers a lower voltage - not 48v - to the actual mic): I don't have a DR 100 mkii, so if it doesn't supply plug-in power get the Micon-5! Cheers, Roland

Hmm...thanks for the reply. Why would the DR-100 not supply plug-in power? What would be the point of it? I'm a bit confused.

Assuming the dr100 mkii doesn't provide plugin power, which you haven't confirmed but I think is the case, then don't worry about why, just get the connector you should have got first off (the micon-5)!! Cheers, Roland

Plug-in power is typically about 5 volts supplied at a 3.5mm 'external mic' input but the manual identifies the DR-100's only 3.5mm input as being for line level only. The only mic level inputs are the XLRs. As Throwback suggested, get a Micon 5, only about $30.
